Collections Management - Extensive experience that has been centred around working on a number of documentation backlog projects over 23 years. Specialist in cataloguing (MfW and Catalist), planning and managing new museum stores, preparing collection management policies, moving collections, storage as well as extensive experience of dealing with those nasty little issues that often crop up when working with collections and poor documentation!

Website Design - Strong skills and meticulous attention to detail in the planning and management of websites. Andrew thrives on a challenging website project and enjoys translating ideas and enthusiasm into a finished form quickly and without fuss. He enjoys the challenge of creating an accessible website quickly as well as concentrating on those little details that lift and make a website special!

Display - Andrew was trained in design and produces displays that are both eye-catching and informative. He has the skills to complete the work from start to finish whether that be object or picture research, object preparation, constructing case fittings to designing graphics. He also enjoys finding ways of using displays in other ways such as through websites and online displays.

Research - He has proven experience in research having published three books on maritime history. He has also managed public research facilities for a number of museums and archves thereby being totally aware of the needs of those using collections. Andrew enjoys making collections accessible to researchers through means such as websites and other publications.

AMA Mentoring - Andrew is also a registered Mentor for the Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA) and would be willing to consider taking on a mentee on application.
