MV Balmoral - How you can help us

balmoral at londonThanks to an extraordinary number of generous people and organisations, the great news is that we have raised sufficient funds to operate a great sailing programme for 2017.

That is a good start but to continue sailing into the future, we not only need a very successful season, in terms of numbers coming aboard, but also further donations and funding to be able to plan forward to cover dry docking, work arising and replacement of equipment such as the diesel generators so that we can sail to end of the decade and beyond - which is of course the objective of the owning charity - MV Balmoral Fund Ltd.

2. A LEGACY

Help keep Balmoral sailing by making a gift in your Will

Whether you have a Will already or you’re planning to write your first Will, it really isn’t hard to add a gift to Balmoral and it can make all the difference with our constant challenge of securing the funding to maintain and improve Balmoral and keep her sailing for the benefit of everyone.

We strongly recommend that you visit a solicitor to ensure that your wishes for your family and any charities can’t be misunderstood later on. However, we do offer the following suggestions of possible ways you may choose to help us.
Make a bequest (a gift) to the registered charity MV Balmoral Fund Ltd either in the form of:

  • A Pecuniary gift (a specified sum of money you decide to donate from your estate), it is a sensible idea to ask your solicitor to index link it.
  • A Residuary gift (made from whatever is left over once gifts of money and things have been distributed in accordance with your wishes), you can donate the whole or a portion of your residual estate to MV Balmoral Fund Ltd.
  • A Specific gift which could be an item you feel we could use or sell to raise funds.

If you have already made a Will you can still help by adding a codicil (a revision/update) to your Will. Again we advise consulting with your solicitor or legal advisor but a codicil is an easy and effective way of adding a gift to Balmoral at any time.

Further information on remembering Balmoral in your Will can be obtained by contacting MV Balmoral Fund Ltd, c/o 23 Adder Hill, Great Boughton, Chester, CH3 5RA, or by email to: donations@mvbalmoral.com

A form of wording is shown below:

‘To the MV Balmoral Fund Ltd of 21 South Close Green, Merstham, Redhill, Surrey, RH1 3DU Charity number 1155339 the sum
of .......pounds (£....) absolutely to be applied for the rebuilding, refurbishment or maintenance of the ship named Balmoral as the charity shall think fit [and if this charity is no longer in existence then this gift shall pass in substitution to such other charity with similar objectives as my executors in their absolute discretion shall choose].’ (Optional wording in brackets)

THANK YOU FOR ANY WAY THAT YOU FEEL ABLE TO SUPPORT BALMORAL INTO THE FUTURE - SO THAT OTHERS CAN ENJOY COASTAL CRUISING AS MUCH AS OURSELVES!
