This site is dedicated to preserving and making accessible the heritage of British Paddle Steamers. Kieran McCarthy and Andrew Gladwell commenced work on this website in 2007 and launced it in February 2008. They would sincerely like to thank everyone who has visited and contributed to this website. Thanks to the many people who have donated artefacts and ephemera to the Paddle Steamer collection, and anyone who has created a link to this website from another online resource. Kieran and Andrew would particularly like to thank the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV who have made documentaries for television about these unique ships after consulting the website.

Andrew has worked in a variety of national, designated and specialist museums since 1985.

He has extensive experience in collections management, display, public services and research. Andrew has also published seven books on maritime heritage.

For the past sixteen years, he has been responsible for the collections of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. During this time the collection has been fully documented, collection management procedures introduced and a permanent store created at Chatham Historic Dockyard in Kent. This website is the culmination of this work to date.

Andrew is an Associate of the Museums Association (AMA) and is a mentor for the Museums Association.

Kieran McCarthy BSc, I.T. Specialist

Kieran McCarthy is a creative designer and online marketing specialist. He specialises in website marketing, branding, social media marketing and search engine optimisation.

Kieran has many years' experience as a creative designer, specialising in website design, Flashtm applications and Powerpointtm presentations.

Kieran is an experienced photographer, specialising in commercial photography and photography for websites.

He has worked in the past for J Walter Thompson Communications International, one of the largest advertising and media agencies in the world. He has also worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers, Fennell Photography Dublin, University College Dublin, and Kent County Council.
