What we do with Donated Material
Material is selected to ensure that it fits into our Collecting PolicySelection
When material is offered to the Society, it is initially checked against the Collecting Policy and database to ensure that it is relevant to the Collection and that it doesn't duplicate other material.
Material is entered onto an Entry form Entry Form
If accepted, material is entered onto an Entry form which acts as a receipt as well as outlining the conditions of entry into the Collection.
Once accepted, material is placed into the accession registerAccession
Accessioning formally accepts material into the Collection. From this point, it can't be disposed of. It is then fully catalogued onto the computer database.
Objects are marked with a unique numberMarking
Objects are then marked with a unique number to ensure that object matches up with the record.
Material is then placed nto accessible storageStorage
Objects are then stored to ensure their safety in location coded boxes.
