Thoughts of Preservation and Operation

Medway queen towards the end of her career on the Thames and Medway

Medway Queen is withdrawn, 1963
Medway Queen as the Medway Queen Club on the Isle of WightThe first few years of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society saw a huge decline in paddle and pleasure steamers in the UK.

One of the most famous steamers to be withdrawn was the Medway Queen in September 1963. The Society kept a keen eye on the various plans proposed for the Medway Queen which included her use as a floating office for around 40 people. Since that time, Medway Queen has had a sometimes uncertain future but luckily over 46 years later, she faces a positive future.
