Paddle Steamer Preservation Society Charters
The well-loved Consul in Lulworth CoveFrom the start,, the PSPS has organised special charter trips aboard well-loved paddle and pleasure steamers. This was to promote interest in these vessels, to raise funds for the Society and to promote interest and membership of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.

One of the first charters was aboard the well-loved Consul from Weymouth towards Lulworth Cove on 16th August 1961. Sadly, this charter wasn't a success as money was lost due to poor weather. In later years, charters became very popular and reached a peak during the 1970s. Many popular paddle steamers were chartered including Bristol Queen, Princess Elizabeth, Lincoln Castle, Waverley, Balmoral and Maid of the Loch.
